UC’s Department of Industrial Design has entered into a collaboration with the community of
Northside, a green development group, a neighborhood group, several architects and the City of Cincinnati, to develop a plan to build an eco-community that is targeted to mixed income, mixed demographic, and multiuse. The location in Northside is an eighty-plus acre site that was cleared in the sixties for a freeway connector that was never built. That site is now reverting from the Department of Transportation back to the city, and they are seeking development proposals. This project would emerge as a national example of green collaboration.
